Hello, I'm Maria Kennedy

Certified Business Coach
Heilpraktikerin für Psychotherapie

Neuroscience-informed coaching & therapy for people under pressure

Evidence-based, trauma-aware, grounded in real business experience

If life feels heavy right now — mentally, emotionally, or in your body — you don’t have to carry it alone.I offer a supportive space to slow down, and help you understand what’s happening within you, so you can gently find your way back to calm, clarity, and connection.

How I Work

1. A first conversationWe start with a focused, confidential call to understand what you’re dealing with, what you’ve already tried, and what you’re hoping for. This is also where we check whether working together feels like a good fit — for both of us.

2. Clarity before solutionsChronic stress, anxiety, or work-related strain rarely come from just one cause. Together, we look at the patterns, pressures, and nervous-system dynamics that are actually driving the problem — without pathologising or oversimplifying.

3. Evidence-based, no fluffMy work is grounded in neuroscience, psychology, and trauma-informed practice,. I combine this with solid business coaching experience and more than 25 years of leadership experience in the automotive industry. The aim is always practical clarity: what helps, why it helps, and how to apply it in real life and real jobs.

4. Working in a way that fits youSessions can take place virtually, in or around Ludwigsburg, or — if helpful — outdoors while walking. For some people, movement and nature support regulation and reflection; for others, a quiet room is more appropriate. We choose what best supports the work.
Good work requires a good fit.
It’s completely okay to decide after the first conversation that this isn’t right for you — just as it’s okay for me to say the same. Clarity and consent matter more than forcing a process.

Ways of Working & Understanding

Depending on what you’re dealing with, we may draw on different perspectives and ways of working. These are not labels or fixed paths, but lenses that help us understand what’s happening and decide what’s helpful.

Neuroscience

The brain is not fixed — it learns from what we repeat, what we avoid, what we fear, and what we practice.Understanding your nervous system can be deeply empowering. It helps you stop blaming yourself and start seeing what’s really happening underneath stress responses: the biology of safety, threat, and regulation. My work combines modern neuroscience with practical psychological tools and mindful approaches — bridging science and personal transformation in a way that feels both professional and human.

Trauma & The Nervous System

Trauma is not only about what happened to you — it’s also about what your nervous system had to do to survive. Many high-functioning people carry invisible stress responses: overthinking, perfectionism, emotional shutdown, chronic tension, people-pleasing, feeling “on edge”, or struggling to fully relax. None of these are weaknesses — they are intelligent adaptations. As a trauma-informed practitioner with a neuroscience background and a German license as an alternative mental health practitioner, I offer a safe and structured space to support nervous-system stability, build inner resources, and gently work towards more freedom, trust and resilience.

Mindfulness

Everyone is talking about mindfulness — but what is it really?
Mindfulness is not about emptying your mind or becoming “zen”. It’s a simple, powerful way to reconnect with yourself: your thoughts, your body, your emotions — and the moment you’re in.
There are many different approaches, from breathing and meditation to gentle awareness practices in everyday life. We can explore together what fits your personality, your nervous system, and your life — in a way that feels grounded and real.

Therapy

Sometimes we don’t need “more advice” — we need space.Space to feel, to untangle what’s going on inside, and to finally understand the patterns we keep repeating. In therapy, we work gently and clearly with what’s present for you — stress, anxiety, overwhelm, relationship dynamics, self-worth, or the feeling that something is holding you back.My approach is evidence-informed and practical, with tools from CBT/ACT and a strong focus on nervous-system regulation — always at your pace, always with respect for your story.

FAQ

“What happens in the first session?”
We talk about what brings you here, what you’re hoping for, and what feels important right now. There is no pressure to go deep or cover everything.
“Will I be pushed to talk about things I don’t want to talk about?”
No. You decide what we talk about and how far we go. Nothing is forced, and we always work at a pace that feels manageable and supportive.
“What if I start crying or get emotional?”
Emotions are welcome, but never required. If they arise, we handle them calmly and respectfully. Many sessions are thoughtful and reflective rather than emotional.
“Could this destabilise me or make things worse?”
The intention is the opposite. We focus on stability, clarity, and regulation. If something doesn’t feel helpful, we slow down or change direction.
“Do I need to have a ‘real problem’ to come?”
No. Many people come because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or want clarity — not because something is “wrong” with them.
“Is this psychotherapy?”
I am a licensed alternative psychotherapy practitioner (Heilpraktikerin für Psychotherapie). Depending on your situation, our work may feel more like counselling, coaching, or therapeutic support. We clarify this together.
“What’s the difference between this and coaching?”
Coaching often focuses on goals and performance. My work also considers emotional patterns, stress responses, and inner stability — always in a grounded, practical way.
“Will you tell me what to do?”
No. I may offer perspectives or tools, but decisions always remain yours.
“What if I don’t know what to talk about?”
That’s completely fine. We can start there. You don’t need a clear story or explanation before coming.
“How many sessions do I need?”
There is no fixed number. Some people come for a few sessions, others for longer-term support. We review this together.
“What if I realise this isn’t for me?”
That’s okay. You’re free to stop at any time. A good fit matters.
“Does this work online?”
Yes. Many people find online sessions surprisingly effective — often calmer and easier to integrate into daily life.
“Where are you based?”
I am based in Ludwigsburg, near Stuttgart. I work remotely and internationally. Location is less important than the quality of the conversation.
“Is what I share confidential?”
Yes. Confidentiality and discretion are central to my work, within the legal framework.
“I’m high-functioning — is this still for me?”
Very often, yes. Many clients are capable, responsible, and outwardly successful, yet feel internally strained or disconnected.
“I don’t want to ‘fall apart’. Is that okay?”
Absolutely. This work is about supporting you in staying grounded, not about breaking you open.
“What if my issue feels ‘too small’?”
If it matters to you, it’s valid. You don’t need to justify your reasons for reaching out.
